Audio Quality for OBS

  • Audio Quality affected by
    • quality of microphone (microphone with directional sound recording, and wind shield for mic help improve the noise)
    • quality of audio cable linking between mic and pc also counts (bad quality audio cable may cause spark sound in audio record)
  • OBS per audio input setting:
    • there is a “Gear” setting icon next to each input audio source, the one with sound metering panel.
    • click on the audio gear icon, choose filter. the Filter for mic/aux will show.
      • play with Noise Suppression and Noise Gate filter, for increase volumn, try Gain filter
      • normally, it is better to get good mic than software filter the sound.

Record a area of screen

  • in source, add display as source, with option to capture mouse
  • then right click on display and choose filter, add a crop filter
    • for 2560×1440 screen, to crop to 1280×720, just put left + right = 1280, top+bottom = 720
  • in setting,
    • output, choose mp4 h264
    • video: base canvas 1280×720, output 1280×720, 30fps
    • audio: 44khz
  • zoom h1 as USB record device,
    • also make sure Zoom ASIO driver (from zoom support page) is installed on machine to record correctly
    • when start device with USB plugged, press record button on zoom h1 and choose audio mode instead USB mode
    • and press record button on device to choose 44khz for record when flash kHz mode,
